What the press said…
“An impressive production that is relentlessly grim…The moral darkness is matched by the huge shadows and steel structures that tower over the characters. Aaron Monaghan, as a disturbingly unpredictable Zucco, leads a strong cast…” Mail on Sunday
“Director Jimmy Fay crafts some great scenes from the violent intimacy.” Herald AM

Roberto Zucco has escaped from prison. Where will he go? What will he do? His mother isn’t hoping for a visit: I can’t believe I gave birth to you Roberto Zucco.
His girlfriend’s family are not too pleased about the whole thing: Of all the disgusting animals on this earth the most disgusting is the human male.
The police aren’t exactly on top of the investigation: Out with the bastard’s name or you get a knuckle-fucking sandwich.
The only person who knows what Roberto Zucco is thinking is Roberto Zucco, and he doesn’t seem happy: Sooner or later we all have to die. And that’s what makes the birds sing, and that’s what makes them laugh at us.
Bedrock first introduced Irish audiences to Koltes, the most extraordinary French playwright of his generation, back in 1999 with Quay West and Night Just Before The Black Forest. Roberto Zucco was to be his last and most celebrated play. Based on a true story this very funny and very dark comedy tells the relationship between society and the criminal, a searing portrait of a man driven by forces outside his control. Drawing on inspiration as diverse as American movies, Tintin comics and ancient myth, the result was an amazing, pumping powerhouse of a play, featuring a stellar cast of top Irish talent.
